Happy New Year!

Today we had a wonderful start after a nice relaxing Christmas Break. The students were eager to get back into the swing of things, and we had a great math lesson followed by starting Science Fair, and working on Limericks!

Hello everyone!
Sorry I have not been keeping up with the blog this week. I've been fighting off a terrible cold, and thankfully, I was able to get lots of rest this week, and when I have been at school, the students have been fantastic!
A highlight of this week so far is definitely designing and building gingerbread houses! This project showcases the knowledge the students have gained in our shape and space unit in math. It was wonderful to see them work together in groups, and we were blessed to have some fantastic parents helping us out!
I'm looking forward to a busy last 2 days of school!

Update

We have been keeping busy in 5HP! In Science, we are continuing to learn about more simple machines, and have done multiple experiments to help solidify information from our notes. We are flying through our Shape and Space unit in Math and enjoying some fun group work activities in SS and ELA! We have one last push before Christmas Break, and I'm looking forward to hearing some more poetry and working on Gingerbread Houses for Math next week!

Our day...

Today we spent our time reading Genesis 5, working hard on our math reviews, and also investigating third class levers.

Tomorrow we will be painting our murals, as well as doing a practice math test. The practice math test will be a great way for the students to study and also to know what they need to still review. The actual test on Thursday will be very similar to the practice test in terms of format, but the numbers will be changed so I can accurately test their knowledge of the concepts they have learned over the last few weeks.

Just a reminder- mural painting is MESSY! Please help your child remember to choose their clothing accordingly... Sunday best may not hold up to acrylic paint.

Friday, November 21

We had a great time finishing up our First Peoples research and sketching our murals! We will be painting our murals next Wednesday.

If you are able, please send tweezers to school for a science experiment next Monday or Tuesday. Also, there will be a math test on Patterns and Relations on Thursday, November 27.

Manitoba Museum

Today we spent the day exploring the Manitoba Museum! We learned about the Aboriginal People of the Plains and the Fur Trade in the main gallery, and we also got to see a science demonstration in the science gallery. It was a great day!
